| ABOUT FLOODLIT SOCCER - The Floodlit Soccer League was formed in August 2002 following the collapse of Nightowls International League PLC. Floodlit Soccer quickly filled the void and has steadily grown in size and popularity. Originally set up for retired and older players it has since developed to cater for all ages, grades and abilities. The Floodlit Soccer League provides a competitive game of eleven a side football all year round. 60 minute matches are played under floodlights every night, Monday to Friday, on an astro turf pitch. Players therefore have every weekend free and a full fixture list is issued before the season begins to allow forward planning. The League currently consists of 2 Groups ( Divisions ) with teams competing for a prize fund valued at nearly €10,000. All winners and runners up receive trophies and medals with the winners also receiving a full set of gear comprising jerseys, shorts, socks and kit bag. The main season runs from September to May with a Cup & Shield also run during the season. A Summer Tournament takes place through June, July & August. The website is an integral part of the continued success of Floodlit Soccer by offering its members something that other leagues can only dream about. The site is updated every night and teams can log on to view league tables, fixtures, results, goalscorers, plus many other features including competitions and an extensive archive section. The success of Floodlit Soccer can be attributed to many factors but its simplicity is at the heart of it. Anyone can join or enter a team with no need for committees, grounds or other complications. Floodlit Soccer is unique in the fact that it is self regulated and doesnt have an affiliation to FIFA or any other governing body. This means FSL is free to adjust rules and regulations to suit its needs. |
